SA Rugby Legends Awards Banquet

The inaugural SA Rugby Legends Awards Banquet took place at Sandton Sun in Johannesburg on Friday, 8th December 2006.

Former Scottish and British Lions No.8 Rob Wainwright was the guest speaker with Tommy Lawson supplying the entertainment.

It was a glittering affair with legends like Rob Louw, Deon Keyser and Japie Mulder adding some spice to a most memorable evening.

John Allan deserves a lot of credit for his undying love for the game, which has resulted in many communities from the disadvantaged areas having benefited from all SARLA's efforts.

Gerhard Harding the former Sharks and Northern Transvaal prop was also on hand to handle the auction. It certainly was an evening to remember.

Awards were

With over 100 games for EP, Mark always makes an effort to be at all the games and clinics.

Social Responsibility Award: Ian Macintosh
Having coached the SA Rugby Legends to 31 victories from 32 matches (and revenge was had over New Zealand in the Legends Festival), the award goes to a legend in his own right. His enthusiasm and passion was unparalleled. Received by Don Tretheway on behalf of Mac.

Presidents Award: Rob Louw This award is for a person who has the passion, character and humility in dealing with people from all ages and races.
