Ronnie Van Rooyen Memorial Day

Potchefstroom University, affectionately known as the Pukke, will be taking part in the annual Ronnie van Rooyen Memorial Rugby Festival at Harlequins out on the Bluff on 23/24 March. Affectionately known as Oom Ronnie, Van Rooyen passed away in December of 2003, and in 2004, the first Ronnie van Rooyen game was played between Crusaders and Bluff SuperSpar Harlequins, making this the eighth Anniversary of honouring a great club rugby icon who served the game with distinction.

Varsity College Old Boys will join other local Durban clubs Acer Durban Collegians, Crusaders, Jonsson College Rovers, Fidelity Security Jaguars and hosts Harlequins with FNB Maritzburg Varsity coming down from the capital to join in the festive day of club rugby. This year sees First Division club South Coast Warriors from Port Shepstone, Richards Bay from Zululand, Queensburgh and Yellowood Park also participating.
