Pre-Season Training 2011 KZNRU club rugby champions College Rovers and runners up Durban Collegians will kick off their 2012 Fidelity Security Moor Cup campaign next week with Rovers starting their pre-season training sessions at the Umhlanga Rocks beach next Monday 9 January at 5.30pm for 6pm.

Collegians will start their pre-season training sessions at KP 10 on Tuesday 10 January at 6pm and players are asked to bring their running shoes and rugby boots. Graham Furber backs and Sean Erasmus forwards take over the coaching reigns from the hugely successful Ray van Noordwyk at arguably the provinces most successful rugby club while Rudi Dames will be in charge of their Under 20’s.

Former Blue Bulls, Sharks and Springbok scrumhalf Robert du Preez takes over from another former Sharks player Brad McCleod-Henderson as head coach at Rovers with McCleod –Henderson moving to Hilton College as head of rugby at the famous school.

Robin Swanepoel one of the most capped forward players out of Border and the man responsible with the Pringle brothers Richard and David for the invention of the now popular scrum machine Big Dog becomes the forward coaching advisor for the whole club. Michael Dick, Mike Vowles and Malcolm Philips take over the reigns with the Under 19’s.

The best news out of the Rovers camp is the announcement of the rejuvenation of Mini Rugby at the club, which will be headed up by Pierre Puren. Mini Rugby in KZN started in the early seventies at Rovers under the legendary late Dr. Kevin ‘Laser’ Taylor so the news was indeed very pleasing to many of their old boys.
