Rovers Vote in New Chairman

History was made at the AGM of the Jonsson College Rovers Rugby Club on Monday evening when Abonga ‘Bones’ Nkwelo was unanimously voted in as Chairman of the 2012 National Club Rugby Champion club taking over from outgoing Chairman Kevin Carolan who has retired from the committee after 15 years service to the club. Carolan was voted in as the President of the club in honour of his contribution to the club game.

Nkwelo was educated at St. Andrews College in Grahamstown and Rhodes University where he read for his Bachelor Degree in Industrial and Organizational Psychology before moving to Durban and joining Rovers. A long time friend of his school mate Springbok and Sharks flanker, Ryan Kankowski, who he shared digs with for a number of years, Nkwelo comes from a family blessed with remarkable entrepreneurial skills and owns his own company Kanelo. He is sure to add a new dimension to the club and stated that he looks forward to the challenge.

In closing he gave accolades to the service Carolan had dedicated to the club and explained that the new strategy of the club is growing the ethos of winning through each one of its members and giving recognition to every member of the club no matter what team they played for.
