Fidelity Security Moor Cup Round Three Preview

With all the focus on SA Home Loans Durban Collegians blistering start in the Fidelity Security Moor Cup, their title rivals Jonsson College Rovers have quietly gone about their business winning their opening two games.

The third round of fixtures is split by the public holiday. There is an intriguing clash over in Durban North on Friday evening as Nashua Durban Crusaders host Rovers while Collegians take on Amanzimtoti at KP3. Rovers new head coach, Derek Heiberg, has described his appointment as exciting and is expecting a difficult game tonight.

"The team has changed significantly since the Community Cup and I am still going through a transitional period learning the structure of the club," said Heiberg.

"We dominated the first two games and were disappointed by not claiming a bonus point last weekend. Crusaders is always going to be a difficult game but one that we are looking forward to. While there has been talk of us not hitting the high levels, we still have nine points from our first two games."

The second game on Friday sees Durban Collegians at home to Toti. The defending champions have been in cracking form and will want to continue their perfect start to the season against Toti. The visitors though came through a stern test beating Varsity College last week and should provide tough opposition. The two games tonight are scheduled for 8pm kick off.

On Saturday there is a massive derby taking place in the capital as Pmb Collegians face old rivals FNB UKZN Impi at Woodburn. Fans in Maritzburg will be in for a feast of rugby as the Moor Cup match is the curtain-raiser to the Vodacom Cup clash between the Cell C Sharks XV and Griquas.

Following their impressive win against Boland last weekend, the Sharks XV are certainly in for a tougher assignment against the boys from Kimberly. The curtain-raiser is scheduled for a 13h45 kick off followed by the Vodacom Cup match at 15h30.

The final match of the weekend sees Varsity College RFC take on the Zululand Rhinos at Riverside. Though the Empangeni outfit have lost their opening two fixtures, they have shown a drastic improvement in their play and have been competitive so far this season. The match is scheduled to kick off at 15h30.
