The 2012 KZN Club Rugby Awards were held at Mr Price KINGS PARK on Monday evening with the handing over of the competition and league winner trophies for the 2012 season.

Graham McKenzie, President of the KwaZulu-Natal Rugby Union said: "It gives me great pleasure to welcome everyone here in celebrating the awards ceremony. This event is not only about honouring the clubs, but also the long-time servants of the game in KZN and we thank everyone for their support and hard work. To the club administrators, chairmen, players and everyone involved in club rugby, a big thank you. It's been a very difficult year and you have come through and made it worthwhile for all of us. Thank you for everything you have done in difficult circumstances. But I think 2013 looks set to be an outstanding year.

"And a very big thank you to the league sponsors, without them, we would face very difficult times. I would like to recognise club competition sponsors Fidelity Security (Moor Cup), Castle Lager who sponsor the Murray Cup tournament, Starlite Aviation, sponsors of the fantastic Under 19 tournament, and clubs sponsors Fidelity Security, Jonsson, Telnet, Bluff Superspar, Varsity College, Ricoh, Reebok, Thanda/Waterstone, Supertyres, Techmann Bell.

"This awards evening is about rewarding the clubs who have done sterling work throughout the year.

"A final acknowledgement to Pete Smith, Albert Hannekom and the staff of the KZNRU who don't always get recognition, thanks for everything you have done for Club Rugby, it is really appreciated."
