Sad Passing of Graham Downes

The KZNRU/Sharks are very saddened to hear of the passing of Graham Downes, an ex-Natal rugby player who represented the province as a prop on 44 occasions from 1983 to 1985. This included the Currie Cup Final at Newlands in 1984.

Graham moved to America in 1986, but still kept in regular contact with his rugby friends in KZN. He will be sorely missed here and in San Diego, where he attained legendary status with the OMBAC Rugby Club.

What Basher lacked in physique as a prop he made up for with hard work and determination on the field. He will be sorely missed.

Sincere condolences to family and friends from all at KZNRU and Sharks rugby.
