Preparation Wrap

Jonsson College Rovers hosted Amanzimtoti Saturday afternoon to wrap up their preparations for the Cell C Community Cup.

It was a hard-fought battle up front and with South Coast Terriers playing with a strong wind at their backs in the first half, they took a deserved 14-0 lead at the break. Rovers however manage to turn the tide in the second half running in five tries to eventually win the game 35-14.

Toti can hold their heads high and one thing is for certain: they are going to be a hugely competitive side in the Fidelity Security Premier Division. Rovers would have got a huge wake-up call and right on time as they open their Community Cup campaign against Noordelikes on KP 10 this Saturday.

SA Home Loans Durban Collegians, who also had a tough preseason battle against Toti a week earlier, will be hosting the double header with their opening round match against Welkom Rovers scheduled to be played as the main game.

Meanwhile, Rustenberg Impala, the 2014 champions opened their campaign with a solid enough win, beating PE Police 36-22 and Hamilton Sea Point RFC got out of jail, scraping home 25-24 in hard fought battle against home side Sishen, while Durban Collegians' toughest opposition in their pool, Despatch, had the biggest win of the weekend beating Welkom Rovers 69-32.
