Cell C Community Cup Final

We often refer to cricket as a funny old game but after the semi-finals of the Cell C Community Cup in George, it has to be said that rugby too is a funny old game.

Impala, who finished runners up in their Pool behind Hamilton Sea Point RFC, gave Jonsson College Rovers a lesson in how to play the game, thumping the KZN champion club 32-13, while Hammies lost 20-18 to the Lions champions Roodepoort who were runners up in their Pool won by Rovers. This now sets up an interesting final today (Monday) between two sides who were never even considered potential winners of the competition.

Impala must be clear cut favorites now to take the title after their emphatic performance against the side from Durban in today's final games of what has been a truly intriguing competition.

For Rovers who were never in the game against Hugh Reece-Edwards' charges from Rustenberg, they now have to fight it out with Hamilton for third place in the competition, while, in the other games, Old Selbornians face Centurian from Pretoria in the opening game at Outenique Park scheduled for a 9.30 kick off followed by 2013 champions Despatch up against Roses United.

All games are to be televised.
