Impi Giving Back

On Thursday this week (17 January 2013) the UKZN rugby team will spend the day upgrading the Jes Foord Foundation Community Centre in Chesterville, KZN.The Community Centre is the Interface between victims of abuse and rape - often as young as 8 years old - and the Jes Foord Foundation counsellors. The Centre is in serious need of a facelift.

The UKZN Impi will do the following work at the Centre:

  • paint all outside walls
  • plant trees and other plants
  • upgrade their electrical system

Rape survivor, Jes Foord will be present herself to oversee the operation.

Immediately after the refurbishment day, the Impi will swap paint brushes and tools for boots and balls, as they Impi will face 2012 Varsity Shield winners, Wits University at Howard College (Durban Campus) at 6pm. The match against Wits is the first of a two match series against one of UKZN's oldest rivals.

o Saturday 19 January: UKZN Impi v Wits University 9am at Peter Booysen Park (Golf Road, Pietermaritzburg)
