Moor Cup Preview

The Fidelity Security Moor Cup has reached the half-way point it's SA Home Loans Durban Collegians who are the pacesetters. With a fantastic run of seven wins in a row, they will be hoping to continue their hot streak this weekend. They are up against a very promising Nashua Durban Crusaders side who themselves have title aspirations. This promises to be a feisty encounter.

Collegians are on a high after defeating Rovers last weekend but they will have to tread carefully when they make the trip to Durban North on Friday.

Crusaders coach Ronnie Uys is hoping that his team continue with their intensity that they have shown this season.

"We have been playing well this season and a lot of preparation has gone into each of our games," he said.

"We know we are in for a tough battle because Collegians are on top and unbeaten. The boys are pumped up and we have done our homework. I expect them to also be well prepared. We do have aspirations of winning."

In Woodburn, Ricoh Motswako Pmb Collegians host Varsity College FC. Pmb Collegians looked to have turned the corner following a morale-boosting victory over the dangerous Amanzimtoti side last weekend. Coach Carel Nel will be looking for further improvement against Varsity College.

The other Maritzburg game this weekend sees FNB UKZN Impi taking on Amanzimtoti. This is expected to be a closely-fought affair with Toti hoping to reach the heights of their early season form when they led the table at one stage. Impi cannot be written-off, providing they have their first team players available.

Meanwhile, in Empangeni, the Zululand Rhinos know they have a big assignment on their hands when they come up against Jonsson College Rovers. Rhinos have yet to register a win this season and will be up against Rovers who will definitely be reeling from their defeat last weekend.

All games are scheduled for Friday evening. The Crusaders game kicks off at 20.00 with the remaining fixtures set for 20.30.

Incidentally, Collegians lead the table on 33 points followed by Rovers on 27. Crusaders, who have a game in hand, are third with 23 points.
