Castle Murray Cup

Teichmann Bell Ballito Dolphins will host Varsity College Old Boys in the opening round of the Castle Murray Cup Knockout club rugby competition at Ashton College home of the Dolphins tomorrow (Saturday) and will be focal point for the start of the 2011 tournament. Jason Cox from SAB Miller and his team from the breweries, together with the Castle dancing girls will be on hand to help with the entertainment, which has specially been put together for the families and supporters of the club game in the area and a good time can be expected for the locals.

The new structure of the Murray Cup now now in its second year takes the game to the country towns and sees 2010 champions and cup holders Jonsson College Rovers travelling to Vryheid and runners up in the Fidelity Security Premier Division Acer Durban Collegians taking a trip to Ladysmith who won the trophy way back in 1927. For Collegians who have won the priceless piece of silverware more times than any other club in the province it will be quite a historic journey as it was their class of 1927 that Ladysmith beat in the final all those years ago.

In the other games Bluff SuperSpar Harlequins trek to Newcastle to face the Highlanders, Goss and Balfe Crusaders travel to Richards Bay to meet the local club First Division side there, ZRA Thanda Zululand Rhinos will be hosted by the South Coast Terriers in Amanzimtoti, and Jaguars meet Ricoh Maritzburg Collegians at Woodburn Stadium in the capital with all games kicking off at 3.30pm. In the remaining game scheduled for a 5pm start Hillcrest entertain FNB UKZN Pietermaritzburg
