Jonsson College Rovers Annual Awards

The Jonsson College Rovers Annual Rugby Awards function took on a completely different look and had one of their 2011 recipients to the club’s Hall of Fame and former President of the KwaZulu Natal Rugby Union Dr. Nic Labuschagne having the honour of handing out the awards after the club’s highly successful season.

Newly appointed Vice President of the KZNRU Graham McKenzie and well renowned local Physio Kay Morely were inducted into the Rovers Hall of Fame after years of great service to the club. Kay became the first female recipient to be added to the impressive list of recipients of the prestigious club honours board.

Two of the noteworthy award winners were two young men with great futures in the game-firstly Teaghan Price whose uncle a former Rovers stalwart and Swansea loose forward who spent time in Wales with Sharks coach John Plumtree Tyrone Maullin who would have been particularly proud of his nephews award.

Certainly with Kay Morley’s induction into the Hall of Fame it did have a special meaning for her with young Teaghan being given the Coaches Award for the clubs Second XV as Tyrone spent a number of wonderful years under her care. The second was to Jors Dannhauser who picked up the First XV Coaches Award-related to the legendary former Transvaal and Natal lock Toy Dannhauser this young flyer is also undoubtedly destined for bigger things.
